Silver for Chris Newton at the British Time Trial Championships

Recycling.co.uk's Chris Newton won the Silver Medal at the British Time Trial Championships on Sunday behind Tour de France star David Millar (Saunier Duval). Chris completed the 43km course in 58 minutes 29 seconds with himself and Millar the only riders to post a time under 1 hour. [More]
Chris Newton 3rd in Newport Nocturne

Recycling.co.uk's Chris Newton finished 3rd in the Shropshire Star Newport Nocturne on Saturday evening. Chris dominated the event in 2005 winning on his own but it was the evergreen Malcolm Elliott (Pinarello RT) who took the spoils this year. Recycling.co.uk team mate Simon Holt finished 7th. [More]
Luke Rowe Wins Stage and Points in Junior Tour of Wales

recycling.co.uk's Luke Rowe rode a solid Junior Tour of Wales which finished after five tough stages today. Luke won stage 3, finished 4th overall and won the points competition thanks to consistent finishing on every stage, never finishing out of the top seven places. [More]
Tour of Ireland Final Day

Everybody expected a processional day on the final stage back to Dublin. The
recycling.co.uk team didn't expect the fast and furious pace that was set.
The race was certainly not over with riders
attacking early on. A slight tail wind ensured the pace was very high which
didn't help young Adam Bonser who punctured when the peloton was doing 40 to
45 miles an hour. [More]
Rob Partridge In Heroic Break on 144-Mile Stage

This was to be the longest day ever raced by some of the recycling.co.uk
team. "We have to bear in mind that this time last year some of the boys
were still only 18 and used to racing domestically in the junior ranks" said
team manager John Herety. So it was a nervous set of youngsters that lined
up for the start of their epic day. Rob Partridge was

The Misty Emerald Isle

The day dawned 'misty and eerie' according to recycling.co.uk team manager
John Herety. Once the racing got under way it was fast and furious. The guys from the
recycling.co.uk team were safely embedded in the peloton and were to stay
there for the full stage. The day belonged to the sprinters and the
TV pictures showed classic examples of 'rotation' over the final

"Brutal" Day at the Tour of Ireland

Everybody expected a tough day and no one was disappointed. Recycling.co.uk
team manager said it was "brutal". The protour teams and the beautiful but
tough terrain made for a difficult day in the saddle. Experienced team leader Chris Newton knew what to
expect though and made sure that he was in the front part of the peloton

Mixed Fortunes for the Young recycling.co.uk Team in the Tour of Ireland

The day started in the sunshine and the team were filmed on the Channel 4
introduction for the race coverage. Commentator Phil Liggett was heard to
comment 'young riders are the future for cycling'. This is the biggest race
that the youngsters have ever participated in and they were very nervous
young men. But, as early as 10 kilometres disaster struck when a motor
bike took out Tom Diggle. [More]

As a warm up to the Tour of Ireland the recycling.co.uk team took part in a local event the Brendan Campbell Memorial in Donore, Ireland. In a good field made up of visitors as well as local riders the young
recycling.co.uk rider Tom Diggle took a fine victory breaking away near the finish to

Luke Rowe Takes 6th in Junior Road Race Championships

recycling.co.uk's junior rider Luke Rowe fought hard in the Junior Road Race Championship yesterday. Luke formed a late break chasing 4 riders who had escaped earlier in the race and came to just a few hundred metres of closing the gap at the finish to take an excellent 6th place in his first year as a junior. Newton Wins Premier Calendar Series, Partridge 2nd in Tour of Pendle

Chris Newton won British Cycling's Premier Calendar Series yesterday at the Tour of Pendle where he placed 5th in the 12th and final round of the year-long series. Team mate Rob Partridge was narrowly outsprinted by Gordon McCauley (Plowman Craven) to take 2nd place behind the more experienced Kiwi. Recycling's first year senior Adam Bonser finished 14th. Newton 3rd in Blackpool GP to Lead Premier Calendar by 126 points

Chris Newton finished 3rd in the latest round of British Cycling's Premier Calendar Series behind winner Tony Gibb (Plowman Craven) and ProTour Professional Magnus Backstedt (Liquigas) in Blackpool yesterday. Chris has now extended his lead to 126 points from Dean Downing (Rapha Condor RT). Team mates Graham Brigs and Simon Holt finished 11th and 13th respectively. [More / Photos]
Tom Diggle 2nd in Blackpool GP Circuit Race

recycling.co.uk's Tom Diggle finished 2nd in the latest round of British Cycling's Circuit Race Series the Blackpool GP. In atrocious conditions the 19-year-old escaped the field in pursuit of escapee and eventual race winner Gordon McCauley (Plowman Craven). He was joined by Paul Oldham (Hope Factory Racing) with the pair taking the final two podium places. [More / Photos]
Luke Rowe Wins Gold at European Championships

recycling.co.uk's 1st year Junior Luke Rowe won a Gold Medal at the European Track Championships in the Team Pursuit for Great Britain beating France by over 3 seconds. Luke road with fellow Brit's Adam Blythe, Peter Kennaugh and Mark McNally. They recorded a 4.25 to qualify fastest and beat the French in the final in a time of 4.27.033 for the 4km. [More / Photos]

recycling.co.uk's Chris Newton won the Rochdale Town Centre Grand Prix, the latest round of British Cycling's Circuit Race Series. Chris made the winning attack with just half a lap to go to win by 4 seconds from Russell Downing (Healthnet). [More / Photos]
Newton Wins Ryedale Grand Prix and Extends Premier Calendar Lead

Chris Newton won the Ryedale Grand Prix yesterday notching up his third win in the year-long series. Chris now leads overall by 88 points from Robin Sharman (KFS Special Vehicles). Good work by his young teammates brought Newton up to the lead group from where he broke away with Russell Downing (Health Net-Maxxis) & Matt Stephens (Sigma Sport) to win. [More / Team Photos]
Rob Partridge Re-Signs

Rob Partridge has re-signed for the recycling.co.uk Pro Cycling Team after a spell spent in Italy racing for VC Seano. Rob raced well in Italy but his racing was restricted due to regulations in Italy limiting the amount of foriegn riders a team can field. Rob will be an asset in the forthcoming Tour of Britain where he finished 38th last year. [More]
Simon Holt 4th in National Circuit Race Championship

recycling.co.uk's Simon Holt narrowly missed out on a medal at the National Circuit Race Championship in Otley, Yorkshire on Wednesday night. He took 4th in a dramatic sprint won by James McCallum (Plowman Craven). 19-year-old Tom Diggle took 6th place with teammate Adam Bonser in 16th. Newton 3rd in Beaumont Trophy to Lead Premier Calendar Series

recycling.co.uk's Chris Newton took 3rd place in the Beaumont Trophy yesterday, the latest round of British Cycling's Premier Calendar series, to lead the year-long event with 4 races to go. Podium Places for Holt and Rowe at National Circuit Series

recycling.co.uk's Simon Holt and Luke Rowe both took podium places in the Elite and Junior categories respectively at the latest round of the National Circuit Race series in Brentwood, Essex today. Luke is the series leader in the Junior category and finished 3rd with Simon also finishing 3rd in the Elite race behind winner Russell Downing (Heath Net). [More]
Luke Rowe 2nd Overall in Junior Tour of Sussex

recycling.co.uk's Luke Rowe took an excellent 2nd place overall in the Junior Tour of Sussex today. The race is part of the Junior National Series in which Luke was 2nd overall going into this race and he has been on the podium in every round so far. In a rain swept event he took 6th on stage 2, 2nd on stage 3 and 5th on today's final stage to cement 2nd overall. [More]

Newton Moves up to 4th in FBD Insurance Rás

recycling.co.uk's Chris Newton moved up to 4th overall, at 1min & 2secs behind the current race leader, in the FBD Insurance Rás in Ireland yesterday. On one of the most demanding stages of the race, Chris took 4th to move up from the 12th place he held the day before. The winner in 2003 & 2005 Chris is now in a great position to move further up the classification in the remaining 3 stages. [More]
Newton 4th in Lincoln GP to Retain Overall Lead in Premier Calendar

recycling.co.uk's Chris Newton took an excellent 4th place in yesterday's Lincoln Grand Prix to retain his overall lead in the year-long series. Instead of ‘living the dream’ the recycling.co.uk team are having a nightmare in Majorca. For the first time in 20 years John Herety had to abandon the driver’s seat today through illness. But, the disaster didn’t end there! After only 10 kilometres some inexperienced riders braked on a wet section of mountain road causing a massive pile up which involved over 50 riders. [More]

The race today was a pretty fast but uneventful day for the team. The riders spent all day in the peloton and were still there for the final bunch sprint. As this is the first time the younger boys had participated in such a large sprint they were told to take it cautiously. [More]

The day started badly for the team when it was announced that yesterday’s hero Tom Diggle had contracted a stomach bug and had been up all night with sickness. Teamates Ryan Bonser and Graham Briggs had a big part to play in the race. Winner of the 1st stage and race leader after 2 stages, Chris took 3rd on stage 3 and just lost the jersey by 3 seconds to Ian Wilkinson (Science in Sport). On the final stage Chris put up a good fight by beating the race leader but was unable to overhaul him for the overall win. [More]

Newton Wins First Round of Premier Calendar Series

Recycling.co.uk's Chris Newton won the Bikeline 2-Day in North Wales yesterday, the first round of British Cycling's Premier Calendar series. Chris took the 1st stage, a 1.6km time trial, winning by just under 4 seconds to lead the race overall. On the 2nd stage Chris lost the lead taking 9th at 11 seconds, but re-gained it for the final time on the last stage to win by 15 seconds. [More]

2007 Team Launched in Blackpool

March the 2nd saw the launch of the 2007 team. The venue was the iconic
Imperial Hotel in Blackpool. (picture in front of hotel to follow). The event
attracted over 200 people and not only showed off the team but was a joint
event intended to promote Blackpool as a cycling friendly council. All in all it was a successful day for the team but also

Fresh from the 2007 team launch in Blackpool the day before Newton finished just behind the lead group of 4 riders with new teammate Graham Briggs taking 2nd in the bunch sprint to finish in 10th place. Tomorrow sees the launch of the 2007 Recycling.co.uk Pro Cycling Team at the Imperial Hotel in Blackpool. The 2007 team will be offcially annouced as Chris Newton, Shaun Snodden, Graham Briggs, Ryan Bonser, Adam Bonser, Tom Diggle, Simon Holt and Matt Rowe with Luke Rowe riding as a Junior 'club team' member.

Elite, Italian based, Lancaster cyclist Ben Greenwood has launched a website (www.bengreenwood.net) to give friends and fans a chance to keep up to date with his racing activities and current news. The former Recycling.co.uk team rider's web site includes up to date news, photos and a diary from Ben's adventures in Italy. There is also a forum for fans to keep in touch with Ben. [More]
